July 9th: Stavros | Back to Top
Sam Stavros writes the songs for and fronts the band Stavros (previously known as Bushbaby and Bonhomie Baby) and has played throughout California. The members of the band are Thomas Copeland – Drums, Jeff Mayer - Bass, Sam Stavros - Guitar and Vocal. In addition to playing live in the United States the band also did a brief tour in China playing in front of a total 74,000 people during four shows in 1994.
Sam Stavros donated his song, "Living for the Night" to the Jessica Marie Lunsford Foundation and a video along with that song can be seen on Youtube and is also linked from the Jessica Marie Lunsford Foundation website - www.jmlfoundation.com.
Stavros' song, "Hey-O" was popular on KROQ and the band played several of that radio stations showcases at the old Palomino Club in North Hollywood. Because the band played a mixture of rock and reggae they were sponsored for a summer by the Jamaican beer brand, "Red Stripe" and played a concert series at Yesterdays in Westwood.
Stavros has two albums - Mailbox and HEY-O - available for sale on iTunes. Recently the song Hey-O was licensed to the web-based TV show "This is Dorm Life," and was the soundtrack for two Sandisc memory card commercials.
July 16th: Elina | Back to Top
This Hawaii-born songstress stirs deeply with her words, yet brings a laugh when you least expect it. Her songs take you from new love to abiding faith, from despair to joy and to the buoyant hope of childhood dreams. Elina walks a fragile balance between the soft, laid-back music of her Hawaii childhood and a sharp-focused delivery honed from her years in the competitive L.A. entertainment scene.
Elina's debut album includes songs about life, love, brokenness and her faith. Some of the songs are "Lucky," which is a sassy duet about married life by Elina and her husband, Tyrone Wells. They also team up in "Constantly" and "Breathless," expressing the faith that brought them together.
Tyrone Wells produced Elina's debut album and co-wrote some of the songs, including "Dream Like New York", which was a song selected for the end-title and soundtrack of Fox's animated film, "Everyone's Hero." This same song that the pair wrote, also moved on to be used for The World Series, Madison Square Garden Commercials and as a standard played at the New York Knicks' home games.
Just recently, Elina teamed up with talented singer/songwriter friend Tamila Zahrndt, to record her 2nd album project "Tamila and Elina". This album is now available on iTunes and www.cdbaby.com. Elina has future plans to record another solo album and continues to try out and share new songs at some of her local shows. One instrument Elina has started to play again after many years is the Ukulele. Koolau Guitars and Ukuleles have endorsed Elina with an Ukulele from their "Pono" line
July 23rd: Aaron Anderson | Back to Top
Singer/songwriter Aaron Anderson was recently one of a handful of artists chosen by Jon Foreman of Switchfoot and Isaac Slade of The Fray to take part in an exclusive two-day artist's retreat at the Nashville home of renowned writer/producer/artist Charlie Peacock.
A 6-foot-1 former high school athlete from Los Angeles, California, who studied guitar in high school with John York of The Byrds, Anderson was also recently invited to perform his own showcase at MTV for all of the network's music supervisors. On April 17th he sang the national anthem before over 75,000, and live on ESPN, for NASCAR at Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona.
Two years ago, while in college at Point Loma University in San Diego, Anderson was selected for and spent four months in the elite Contemporary Music Center on Martha's Vineyard, an intensive, artist development program. Weeks before college graduation, with plans of moving to Los Angeles and entering the music business, Anderson sang and played guitar in a friend's wedding, catching the attention of the former CEO of a label under Interscope/Geffen. Soon after, Anderson signed with the executive for management. Shortly thereafter, Anderson caught the attention of an attorney at powerhouse entertainment law firm King Holmes Paterno & Berliner (Foo Fighters, Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Dr. Dre, Tori Amos), who ended up signing him for representation.
While writing and developing his music, Anderson met an artist named Mylin who was coming off an international major label deal. Mylin asked Anderson to play guitar and provide backing vocals in her band. The opportunity gave Anderson significant live show experience as Mylin played shows on Nick Lachey's Tour, with Five for Fighting, Patti LaBelle, Beth Hart, and Jonatha Brooke, amongst others. It also provided Anderson with the chance to gain valuable experience performing in larger venues, including a 10,000 seat amphitheatre in Georgia, the Nokia Theatre in New York City, Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Celebrity Theatre in Las Vegas, the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, The Roxy in Hollywood, the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, as well as eight shows at U.S. military bases.
Soon after, with some of his new music in-hand, Anderson began playing his own shows, performing at some of Los Angeles' prominent venues, including The Hotel Café, The Mint, Molly Malone's, and The Knitting Factory, where he opened for Beth Hart.
His style described as a mix of John Mayer, Gavin Degraw, and Jack Johnson, Anderson finished recording his debut EP, titled Green Sun Rising, in February of 2009. He wrote all six tracks on the record, co-writing two of the songs with ASCAP Award-winning writer Paul Duncan, who also produced the EP.
July 30th: Brooke Ramel | Back to Top
Brooke was born in Kansas City, Missouri. By her seventh birthday, she started playing the guitar and by the time she was 8 years old, she was playing gigs at local churches, fairs, pizza parlors, and the state prison. By age 9 she had made her first television appearance on a local talent show and had done a one-hour live radio show. Brooke attended Stanford University and also studied in Paris. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her passion for music. In 1996, Brooke recorded "Movie Star" and put together her first band, playing at LA clubs such as The Troubadour, Genghis Cohen, and others.
In 1998 Brooke released her second CD, "Tulips Bleed". Songs from "Tulips Bleed" have been featured on the television shows "Ed", "Charmed", and "Dawson's Creek", and in the film "Stealing Harvard". Brooke's third album, "Make Tomorrow Up", was released in the summer of 2000. Brooke appeared on the television show "7th Heaven", singing the title track, and songs from "Make Tomorrow Up" have been featured on "The Chris Isaak Show" and "Drawn Together".
Brooke released her fourth CD of original music, "Be", at the beginning of 2002. Her song "Someday" was heard in the motion picture White Oleander, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Renee Zellweger, as well as the television shows "Three Wishes" and "Gilmore Girls". The album "Be" and two of its songs -- "Someday" and "Only" -- were nominated for music awards.
In 2003 HBO's hit series "Six Feet Under" featured her song "As For Me" from her first CD, "Movie Star". The following year she released another CD of original music, "Turn It Around". It's already getting attention on film and television, with the songs "A Long Way" featured on "Beautiful People" and "Let It Out" featured in the upcoming motion picture "Bonneville", starring Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates.
In 2005 Brooke recorded background vocals for Ziggy Marley's latest CD release, "Love is My Religion". Brooke was recently featured in the eighth episode of the PBS series "Branson Jubilee", and she participated in NBC's music competition "Star Tomorrow".
Brooke has performed with many well-respected artists, including many of her own influences, such as Vonda Shepard, Shawn Colvin, Marc Cohn, Deana Carter, David Wilcox, Christopher Cross, A Flock of Seagulls, Warren Zevon, Kevin Bacon and the Bacon Brothers, Raul Malo, John Corbett, Sophie B. Hawkins, Starship, Sally Taylor, Jude, Taylor Dayne, David Gates, Grant Lee Phillips, Willie Porter, Jonathan Brooke, and The Nelsons.
Brooke continues to play with her band in the Los Angeles area. In fact, she does over 200 gigs a year and has now sold over 50,000 CDs on her own as an independent artist. Brooke's latest recording project is an intimate guitar/vocal CD of her all-time favorite songs.
August 6th: Moi Navarro | Back to Top
For Moi Navarro, aka "moi", growing up, music was never too far from home and a guitar was always within reach. Both of his parents were singer songwriters in the early 70's. Moi is an independent artist, in music for eight years, based in Riverside, California and has since gained a prominent regional, statewide, nationwide and world wide fan base. His diversity is more than just skin-deep. The music is interwoven with influences of funk, rock, soul, folk and jazz. Moi's ballads are very emotional, they tell a story and invoke tremendous feeling, portraying sincere transparency, letting you see into his soul. Music, to Moi, is best described as a marriage. "Marrying a set of meaningful lyrics with an intense, unique and beautiful melody, is the key to a great song".
Moi easily reaches a wide variety of people with his passionate music, straight-forward lyrics, and unique stories. The purpose and direction of his music, is to connect with as many people as he can through words and melodies. Being able to communicate with others on how he feels inside through his music, comes to him as second nature. It just flows.
An up-and-coming voice in indie rock music, Moi has earned a massive grassroots following through hard work, determination, and constant touring throughout the past eight years. Through his journey, with countless hours of practice, "you fall, you get up, you fall, you get up", Moi continues to grow, and is blessed that through every stage, people have been touched and encouraged by his music. Joining in his journey are his band mates Timothy Seaton on Guitar, Matt Quillen on Bass, and last but not least Nathan Ryan on Drums. The 4 of them have been together so long they are the definition of family. The guys bring a tightness to the band that must be seen to believe.
In January 2008, Moi signed a publishing deal with Wake Music Group and Grammy Award winning Producer Ric Wake, one of the music industry's top producers in the world. Recorded in New York, Moi's newest online release, NYC SESSIONS is available in all online stores; iTunes, amazon.com, Rhapsody, Napster, eMusic, GroupieTunes, Amazon MP3, Lala, Shock hound, Amie Street - containing seven new original compositions including favorites like: "Superman", "I'm Sorry" and "Listen to Love". Recent reviews of the EP include: "Those of us who were blown away by his previous albums were left shaking our heads in disbelief at the notes that Moi forces into submission in "Listen to Love" and "The pure vocals found in the NYC Sessions EP are unmatched in the 21st century. Moi cleverly balances his classical training and life-long experiences with his coveted talent of foreseeing the industry trends of upcoming years."
In August of 2009 BCBG asked Moi to be a part of the companies newest clothing line campaign. BCBGeneration. Reaching out to younger crowds, Joyce Azria, daughter of Max Azria felt the music and look of Moi and the band fit her company perfectly. Since then the growing love for Moi as well as BCBG has grown ten fold. They will be the poster boys and male aspect to the new line. BCBG is strongly behind them. They will be sold in all 60 new stores in CA with special packaging.
Moi just recently played a charity event titled "Wild Aid: benefiting wild animals in need of shelter and care". The show was a sold out event with people pouring in to hear the talent that is Moi.
One of the most recent events was the band playing a New Years Eve show at Paramount Studios called "Gridlock NYE 2010" The band played on the same stage with Adam Lambert, for 5000 people, red carpet etc. The reaction was overly positive. People have been showing up to their local shows after hearing them at Paramount.
The band has an amazing edge of doing everything on their own, being Independent, and not with a record label. The band was also featured in a movie Trailer that went to Sundance. Moi was recently hired by Disney to write children's music to help teach English to kids. Moi continues to make waves in the music scene playing about 165 shows a year on average. Moi has played over 1000 shows, nationally and internationally, to English and Spanish audiences.
August 13th: Drew Davidsen | Back to Top
Now Drew steps into a broader spotlight as he releases his newest CD "Around Again" to a national audience. The first single is the high energy, feel good, top down, sun in your face travel tune "Astro", a song written for his father, who pioneered satellite technology for NASA. "Astro" is currently receiving airplay on the Broadcast Architecture network of smooth jazz stations as well as (fittingly) satellite radio network Sirius/XM.
The album was produced by producer/keyboardist Eric Copeland for his Creative Soul Jazz label out of Nashville, TN and features legendary bass player, Gerald Veasley, Dave Krug on sax, and pianist Jay Rowe from the band Special EFX. Copeland lends keys and vocals to the record, as well as a bringing in a host of great Nashville session players too like Dan Needham, Gary Lunn, Tony Morra, and John Hammond.
Earning accolades across the board in the worlds of urban jazz and gospel as well as being named one of the "Ten Hottest New Guitarists" in Guitar Player Magazine's influential Reader's Poll, it's apparent that Drew is no newcomer. Drew's first album, This Journey, was recently re-mastered and re-released. "This Journey" is a fresh and dynamic, perfectly "in the pocket" set of 12 melodic and coolly grooving originals. Saxophonist Dave Krug graced the studio and co-wrote the title track, and Eric Washington plays some PHAT chords on the keys too.
From an early age, Drew was trained classically at the Peabody Conservatory on the cello but his interest in rock and jazz guitar grew as his father took him to see live performances by Ray Charles, BB King and Ella Fitzgerald. Drew spent many summers at different music camps playing in orchestras. Soon, the cello was replaced with the bass guitar. After high school, Drew joined the Navy and during his tour of duty picked up the guitar again, but this time lead & rhythm guitar while listening to George Benson, Tom Petty, Elvis Costello and other favorites.

The Right Color Palette for You
Do you ever wonder why a piece of clothing just doesn't look right? The problem could simply be the color choice! Wearing the right colors for your skin tone will help you look your best.
Lighter skin is accentuated by darker colors such as black, grey, and red. Red, blue and pink tones work well with medium tone skin. Darker skins are complemented well with plum, pastels, lavender, and soft neutral. Take a look at the undertone of your skin in natural daylight and this will help you to determine whether you are a "cool" or a "warm" toned person. Cool toned people tend to have a pink or rosy skin tone and will look best in blue-based colors. Warm toned people will have a more golden or apricot undertone and will look best in yellow-based colors.
New York Fashion Week, Spring 2008 reveals these "hot" colors... silver grey, cantaloupe, daiquiri green, golden olive, croissant, freesia, rococco red, spring crocus, pink mist, and snorkel blue. Look for these trend-setting colors at many of our stores here at Terra Vista Town Center, and get ready for compliments!

What's new this Holiday Season at Terra Vista Town Center! | Back to Top
Terra Vista Town Center will kick-off the holiday season with local musicians entertaining at the courtyard's focal point, the Poinsettia Tree (fountain courtyard between Target and Mervyns), on Fridays November 23 - December 21 from 6-8PM.
Terra Vista Town Center is even brighter this year...Think Green!
Every year we decorate for the holidays with lots of beautiful décor and lighting, but now we need to be aware of responsible energy use. This year we will be phasing into LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting. LED lighting is energy efficient, long lasting and consumes 90% less electricity than incandescent lights. The efficiency of LED lighting far exceeds that of fluorescent and incandescent lighting without sacrificing beautiful décor. Check out our red & white lights this year.
Terra Vista Town Center thanks all those participants who came out to enjoy with us the Hot Summer Nites live music series this summer.
During the six Friday evenings in July and August, we featured different kinds of music in our courtyard performed by talented musicians...and a caricature artist & magician too! Complimentary snacks were provided by some of our generous restaurants and there were a few trivia contests with prizes along with a pet adoption hosted by H.O.P.E.
A special thank you to On The Border, Panera Bread, Chili's, Taco Factory, Ultrastar Cinemas and H.O.P.E. (Helping Our Pets Everyday) for their generous support and donations. It is businesses like these that make our Community stand out from the rest.
